The Regional Partnership Initiative
The Bloomington Area Arts Council was established more than 20 years ago to increase participation in the arts in south central Indiana. Six years ago, the BAAC entered into a contractual relationship with the Indiana Arts Commission. We are now one of the IAC's twelve Regional Arts Partner organizations. The BAAC serves as Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, and Owen counties--Region 8.
The IAC Regional Partnership Initiative is a statewide network of 12 community-based organizations delivering an expanded range of services to citizens in all 92 counties. Ten arts organizations and two community foundations were designated by the IAC to provide direct services to arts providers and audiences in their regions. These services include
- cultural planning,
- technical assistance,
- information and referral, and
- grants making.
The Regional Arts Partnership (RAP) has fostered a greater sense of cooperation among artists and arts organizations, and gives communities a greater voice in determining how state resources are allocated for the arts.
Note: The Bloomington Area Arts Council is guided by its Regional Advisory Committee, which serves in an advisory capacity on matters which affect planning, delivery, and evaluation of the four core regional services listed above.
