Spotlight on the Arts

Bloomington Variety Show

Artists, musicians, acrobats, comedians, and more come together for an unforgettable evening of performance. Styled after a good old-fashioned variety show, this event will be fast-paced and jam-packed with talent.

Mourning Lori

The Abrams family gathers for the funeral of their mother, Lori. For middle son, David, it’s particularly bad timing. He’s recovering from a nervous breakdown after an unpleasant divorce from a Hollywood actress, and the prospect of being strong for his grieving father and sisters is difficult. Even more difficult is David’s realization that he alone can still see, hear, and talk to his mother. Unsure if he is psychic or just psychotic, David must find the courage to prepare for the hardest day of his life. Mourning Lori is an honest and heartfelt examination of love and loss, and the laughter that’s needed to keep tears at bay.

A world premiere, written and directed by Herald-Times theatre columnist Joel Pierson.
